Adventure Earth Centre
With locations in Sir Sandford Fleming Park and Shubie Park the Adventure Earth Centre has been offering outdoor recreation and earth education programs for over thirty-five years.
As part of the Halifax Regional Municipality’s Parks and Recreation services we provide opportunities for people of all ages to connect with the natural world, to pursue a healthy and active lifestyle outdoors, to develop personal and leadership skills, to give back to the community, and to connect with other like-minded people.
With our core values of community, sustainability, magic, learning, safety, and excellence as a foundation, we are committed to providing high quality programming for all.
In 2003, the HRM Adventure Earth Centre received the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association national award for long-term excellence in service (based on a 20-year period) and the Canadian Environmental Education and Communication Network award for excellence in environmental education by a government organization. In 2010 the Adventure Earth Centre received the HRM CAO Corporate Award of Excellence and the Director’s Award of Excellence in the Spirit category and in 2017 Dr. Alan Warner, George Taylor, and Terri Peace won the Canadian Environmental Education and Communication Network Award of Excellence in the Outstanding Post-Secondary Education category.
The Adventure Earth Centre has locations in Sir Sandford Fleming Park and Shubie Park with programs running across the municipality. Many of our overnight programs happen at Camp Mockingee in Windsor, Nova Scotia.
